The Monthly Block Party in New Yak City

  The Movement

The New Yak City Block Party Hosted by One Be Lo takes place at JD’s Key Club in Pontiac, Mi on the first Thursday of every month.  JD’s Key Club is located Downtown Pontiac, at 1 N Saginaw.  One Be Lo says, “Before this event, we had to drive as far as Detroit and Ann Arbor for this kind of entertainment.”  Hosted in Pontiac, this event is ideal for those who live in the Oakland County area, and don’t want to go far on a Thursday night.  The NYC Block Party also provide’s a creative outlet for artist’s from all music genre’s, film, visual arts, and dance.  By supporting this night, we are also building a strong community network.

We call it New Yak City, because we hail from Pontiac aka YacTown and we want to bring New Hope to a place that we have seen go through many challenges.  As members of the artist community here in Pontiac, it is just as important to bring Creativity and positive light not only to ourselves, but our city as well.

The Block Party is where we meet on a regular occasion to network or just catch up with friends, stay current with what’s going on in our community.  Every month we look forward to building skills,  business and even community.

Open Mic

Here at the Block Party, you’ll find plenty of space to chill, network, and participate in Hip Hop Culture.  Resident DJ LaJedi holds down the main floor with her Soul and HipHop playlist, while Residents DJ St33lo and ALF 1 keep it gritty in the Basement, with an assortment of Breaks for Bboys/Bgirls, HipHop, instrumentals for the open mic cyphers, and Turntablism.

DJ St33Lo on the 1's and 2's. Where's Alf 1?

The main floor will showcase featured artist, visual art,  and also local vendors.  There is a kitchen serving food until 2am.  If you are looking for a place to hang out, network and listen to good HipHop music, join us here at the NewYakCity BLOCK PARTY.

I started working with a band in late 2009, called DL7.  This is where I started working with DJ LaJedi, who also played the flute. Over the years we have built good chemistry on the road, as well as local monthly events.

About nahshid

I was born in a Michigan city, frigid and chilly, now the rhyme so hot, somebody built me a chimney, nobody spitting this witty, the flame kindle within me, I hold mics with bare hands, really a grizzly
